CSR Activities

As a global healthcare company, we innovate to drive access to our products whilst embedding responsible business practice across the world.

Health for all
Increased access: By 2020 we want our products to reach 80% of the Cambodian population. To further support developing countries we have committed to freezing prices for 10 years to those countries ‘graduating’ from Gavi support for vaccination in national immunization program (NIP)
Strengthening healthcare infrastructure: We reinvest 20% of in-country-profit directly into opportunities for local people through our NGO partners, including training for midwives to reduce maternal deaths and improving local knowledge of health and nutrition.
Our behavior
Ethical conduct: As Cambodia’s leading Pharmaceutical company every decision we make is driven by GSK’s values of patient focus, respect for people, integrity and transparency.
All our employees are trained on our global Code of Conduct every year.

Sales: Sales forces at GSK are no longer rewarded for the number of prescriptions written; instead they are rewarded based on the quality of their interactions with healthcare professionals. We have also stopped direct payments to healthcare professionals for speaking engagements to eliminate any perceived conflict of interest in the choice of treatments for patients.

Patient and consumer safety: Our Pharmacovigilance system allows us to collect, monitors, and report adverse events in product usage.

Our people
Inclusion and diversity: 50% of our employees are women and this gender balance is also reflected in our leadership team
Capability building: We are expanding the local team, building their skills and knowledge to effectively engage with our customers. Our Future Leaders Programme provides accelerated development for graduates.

Background

We are on a mission to help people: do more, feel better, live longer.
GSK is a science-led global healthcare company. We have three world-leading businesses that research, develop and manufacture innovative pharmaceutical, vaccine and consumer healthcare products.
We are committed to widening access to our products, so more people can benefit, no matter where they live in the world or what they can afford to pay.

For the last 300 years we have helped transform the health, lives and futures of billions of people around the world. We continue to take a pioneering approach to developing breakthrough healthcare products and solutions.
We have a strong history of innovation. From the development of the first medicine to transform the treatment of HIV to tackling polio with UNICEF and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative by providing over 16bn doses of the oral polio vaccine. We also developed the first rubella and the first recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine. We are committed to tackle diseases of the developing world by working in partnership with others. This includes fast-tracking an accelerated development programme for our Ebola candidate vaccine and the development of the world’s first malaria vaccine. In addition, our scientists are recognised as being best in class worldwide, with five Nobel Prize winners working for us during their careers.
